15mm Space Orks from Vanguard Miniatures

15mm Space Orks... still need flocking on their base 😀

It's been a busy time at work. So I haven't had much time to catch up on my current painting project sadly. However, I have been able to do some test paints of the units I'm currently working on. So because there is a lot of other stuff on right now, and because its all I have been able to do paint wise lately, presenting my 15mm Space Orks!

These are great mini's and come from Vanguard Miniatures. You can find them here.

EPIC Fortress

eBay purchase - just search for Epic Fortress

I recently picked up this Epic scale fortress from eBay. If you search for "epic fortress" you should be able to find it easily enough. There are several options to choose from. I chose the nine part fortress. But you can also choose seven, five and two part options as different "but it now" entries on eBay.

10mm Reaper CAV infantry and Epic scale Dreadnoughts in front of the main gate

Here are my thoughts on how good it is.

Positives

  • Made of poly-stone, so durable as long as it isn't dropped.
  • Scales to accommodate Epic, 10mm and 15mm easily enough.
  • Larger walls than other types available
  • Fits easily with either a 40K or post-apocalyptic setting
  • Nice design

Negatives

  • Expensive, especially with shipping to Oz
  • Walls don't sit flush against each other due to the mold making.
  • Heavy, though this is also a plus really as it is made of durable poly-stone
  • Lots of "flashing" on the base of the model. But can be easily removed.
  • Stupid me should have bought additional pieces in order to make a fully walled base. 😒

Have to say that overall I think its a great buy. Especially so given that I usually play with 10mm to 15mm scale minis. I do want to get additional pieces (e.g. 4x more 45 degree bent walls, 2x straight walls and another gate). So its worth it if you are looking for something larger than the existing Epic scale fortresses on the market that I have found so far. Here are more images if you are interested.

EPIC Dreadnoughts

Epic Armageddon Dreadnoughts

Featured in yesterday's post were the Epic Dreadnoughts that I recently finished painting. These little rippers are painted in a scheme that will fit both Epic and Future War Commander armies. So they don't specifically follow any 40K cannon paint schemes.

Flash photo should show the colours better

These are fantastic models and I have some more that will be painted specifically for a different army faction.

The painting continues...

EPIC Warhound Titan

My new pet project is moving along slowly but surely. So expect the odd post showing the progress in this area. Recently I was able to complete one of the two Warhound Titans I purchased from eBay.

When you glace on Google Images for Epic titans, I am blown away by the painting skill of many people. I'm not that good. Either that or I just don't have the patience to make a masterwork of art. So without further adieu, here is my meager contribution.

The last image shows the Warhound compared to 10mm Reaper CAV minis and two Epic Dreadnoughts. One down. One more to go!

A New Project...

Thanks to the most recent iPhone IOS update, I've been having problems getting my photos off my phone. As such, I haven't been able to post much recently. 😒

Anyway, enough said about that. Here are a few photo's I have been able to salvage so far. These are of a new project I'm currently painting. More on this when I get my phone working correctly and more has been painted. But here is a sneak peak!

These are from Ground Zero Games 15mm Stargrunt here and here. You can probably pick what they look like and surmise what this new project may be leaning towards. More on this to come!
